It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere

Last Night’s Dinner

Success!

For dinner last night I made a Taco Braid from the blog, The Girl Who Ate Everything.

I am showing this first picture because it is our NEW PAN. Mike’s lovely sister-in-law, Ashley, took me to Target and had me pick out my shower present. Well, as you have seen, our pans are all old and we can barely make eggs in them. So this was a very exciting item!

Definitely a good dinner. Except for this minor accident…

Side note: Never take a hot, glass lid from a pot and put it immediately under a cold faucet. Whoops.

Today

I woke up a little late this morning and had to head to Oakland for a National Endowment for the Arts Workshop/Information Meeting. I had a Luna bar after the meeting and had leftovers with some greens for lunch.

Today is not only another show day but also…

Wine Friday

I feel like I just did Wine Friday but time has been flying lately.

I bought this bottle of wine last week at BevMo along with my Shiraz. Powder Keg is a 2009 California Cabernet.

The label reads:

Harnessing the expressive style of California’s most exuberant varietals, Powder Keg wine bursts with bold, bright character. This Cabernet Sauvignon displays warm dark berry aromas that release mouth-filling layers of ripe plum, lush blackberry and smoke leading to a generous, impressive finish.

I have yet to try this although I am tempted to just bust it open right now and have a small glass. It’s 5 o’clock somewhere!

Here are the four last video blogs I did for Dandelion Dancetheater. Our second to last show (The Dislocation Express) is tonight – starting at Ashby BART at 6 PM and traveling to Walnut Creek BART. If you see a group of hobos on BART, you will know it is us.

I’ll Try Anything Once

I just can’t get enough of this cereal. I almost made some oats with almond butter but I’m not into hot things for breakfast right now. Probably because it is so hot out here?

I also had to use real milk instead of almond. Boo.

Once Mike woke up, we headed over to my sister’s to carpool into Emeryville to meet her husband for lunch. There is a big food court by his work that offers all kinds of food – Indian, Japanese, Mediterranean, American, Persian, etc.

After looking around, we decided on Japanese. Mike got some teriyaki chicken with brown rice and I got tempura with white rice.

Obviously the portions were skewed…

I got this drink which was delicious and zero calories.

Of course, we couldn’t pass up some gelato! I tried the coconut and hazelnut flavor but went with chocolate. It was all right but I should have gone with coconut.

Since we were in dire need of some important items from home, we headed to Target. We don’t do our grocery shopping there typically but we wanted to pick up a couple movies and Target usually has healthy and rare items I’m looking for. I was looking for agave nectar and I found it! I am going to try to use this as a sweetener instead of sugar. I’m not big on sweeteners in general because they taste more sweet than regular ole sugar. But another blogger who I follow has been using it and really likes it. I also found this:

Yes, I already have this in my pantry but it was $4.99 for 16 oz. Mara Natha almond butter is usually between 7 and 8 and is only 12 oz. So I will be trying this out. I mean, how could almond butter go wrong?

I also found this:

I’ve been looking for this for quite some time since my friend Christina told me about it. I don’t really eat Ben & Jerry’s anymore and of course, I’m skeptical of anything red velvet BUT I also have to try it all once.

Time to prepare dinner and have a chill night in with the hubby. Well, he will be my hubby soon enough. I might even have some wine this evening! I haven’t been having drinking at all since I’ve been sick. I’m surprised I haven’t had withdrawals. Just kidding.

Puppy Love

Yesterday

Puppy play date!

My aunt made them all matching scarves. The pictures aren’t the best. It was a tad difficult getting shots of them together because they were all very excited to be out and about. I also don’t like having to carry my big dslr camera around. I have a smaller Canon Powershot but the button is broken on it. One of my things to do: get digital camera fixed. Maybe I will do that this weekend…

For lunch we grabbed some Subway sandwiches afterwards and chatted about the wedding. Then I had to race home to get ready for the show last night. The Dislocation Express was a huge success. We had a ton of audience involvement in between the two performances, while traveling on BART. I was moved to tears several times throughout the night but had to hold it in. Not just because I was stage manager but also because my make up was a little crazy and tears would have made it much much worse. Here is a picture I had instagramed:

The evening had started off a little rough…again. I was still slightly cranky from not feeling completely better and then I forgot my battery for my dslr. We also had some issues with BART tickets and FYI, you can’t use your credit card more than twice at BART in one day. Lesson learned.

I got home around 10:30 PM and was starving so I ate some leftover black bean and quinoa salad. I flipped on the television which was on the news. I must say, marrying someone in law enforcement can get strange when… you flip on the news, hear a story and know he was a part of that (without actually talking to him). Of course, I texted him and once he got a chance, he wrote back to let me know he was OK. So weird. At least everyone involved was safe and went home to their families this morning (shift ends at 5 AM). Mike is also officially off his training period in the field which is very exciting so today will be a special day for us. Except he was doing a lot of sleep talking so I’m sure he will be very tired. Enter the domesticated, housewife Nicole who likes to take care of her man.

That just made me laugh out loud…
